This post will serve as a brief introduction and a heads up of what you should expect to read with future posts.

INTRO

I am a Master of Public Service and Administration candidate (spring 2012) at Texas A&M University. Nonprofit management is my area of concentration. Before my graduate work I worked six years in a community action agency in Maryland (specifically in their food and nutrition program). As my name indicates (yorksnonprofit), I am truly passionate about the nonprofit sector.

While at A&M, I applied what I learned in the classroom to nonprofits in the Bryan, Texas region. This practical experience culminated in a summer internship as a grant proposal writer for a local nonprofit (a health clinic that serves low-income residents of our town). Little did I know that this three month internship would later spark a career interest in nonprofit fundraising and development.

Although I am about to graduate, I know that the learning process does not stop at the school house door.
